Some Principles We Live By
65
We as human beings live by certain principles. Some principles are spiritually inspired, such as truth, honesty, virtue and integrity just to name a few. These principles are born with us. We know when we are born that God has given us these basic spiritual principles .They are unchangeable and if they are violated or an attempt is made to change them dire consequences will come upon the perpetrators. I have listed a few of these principles in the following article.
Truth
1. Truth is a state of fact that is a constant and transcendent fundamental or spiritual reality often associated with the unchangeable laws of god (nature). It is directly related with the character and integrity of man. It shows the sincerity and the integrity of the personality of man and his attitude toward his fellow man and God. It is a constant principle and never changes. If man attempts to alter this principle then consequences are in order and paid. Sometimes the consequences are rather harsh.
2. This principle comes with us when we come into this world. We know it at the time our existence begins here and it is crystal clear to us. However, the circumstances we are born into can influence and considerably dull our sense of this principle. Unless our parents or the people we associate with are good people who recognize and practice this principle, we are likely to lose that innocence and become untruthful or dishonest and generally disliked and distrusted by our fellow man.
Honesty
- Honesty has to do with sincerely and truthfully dealing with the facts of a matter. It is closely related with the principle of truth. One who is recognized for their honesty is generally admired by their peers as being straightforward and having a quality of fairness.
- The word “honesty” has only been in use since the 1400’s”. The principle itself has been in existence since God created the earth. Some uses of the word follow:
- "It has been said that she is a kind and honest person”
- "He demands honesty from his employees"
- "He wasn’t even honest enough to let me know of the accident"
- Dishonest people will try and trick you into doing something that appears honest.. For instance: the family that was at the ball game and their battery was stolen. Next week it was found setting on their steps with a note of apology and tickets to a ballgame. They went to the game and came home to a totally ravaged house that had been burglarized. This was clearly a man made manipulation to get the homeowners out of the house so the foul deed could go on unimpeded. Think about it, honesty or dishonesty?
- On the other hand the couple with an older lady stranded in a blizzard with a flat tire only to find their spare was totally deficient of air. A stranger stopped and offered help. When he found the condition of their spare tire and the fact that his tire was the same size of theirs he offered the use of his spare to get them where they could get real help.
-
Two weeks later they returned the spare tire. Think about it, honesty or not?
- Honesty can be manipulated in many ways.
Integrity
- Integrity has to do with a firm foundation of moral or artistic values.
- The quality of being complete and undivided. (Sound Integrity)
- An unimpaired condition of soundness. For instance, the structural integrity of the building was compromised after the explosion.
- "He's a man of the highest integrity." This statement means that the man has a high quality of ethics and is rooted in high moral values."
- "All her life she has refused to compromise her integrity by her refusal to let her children watch "R " rated movies.
Virtue
Virtue has to do with conforming to a high moral standard. Especially with the female ,chastity is an important element of virtue. Virtue has merit, and is a commendable quality or trait. A person who has true virtue is admired by those she knows and loves..
Virtue is a principle that helps us to build a moral society. Without virtue being taught our youth our society would fold into an immoral society that would throw out all the truths and principles that helps to develop a good and just society. There is much more virtue that I cannot explain in this small treatise. I suggest if interested that the reader do more research on his /her own.
In Closing
There are many principles we must learn to use properly. As of these latter days we have been rather lax on teaching principles to our children. Our parents is where it starts. They seem to have forgotten that principles teach children how to get along in society. When we forget these things society runs amuk. Children misbehave, teachers leave discipline up to the parents. The Law puts them in jail where they learn many nasty principles that stays with them for their lifetime. Meanwhile the parents wring their hands and cry out ”Don’t put my son/daughter in jail. They are good little kids,” yet the parents have been sitting on their laurels drinking beer, smoking dope and in many cases these mind altering drugs are offered freely to their children by their own parents who are snockered most of the time anyway
The Church’s have forgotten their role as a source to what the parents should be teaching the children . The Government has also forgotten their role as an aid to the parents. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could get back to the old principles, the principles that built this country? What if the parents started going to church and started relearning and teaching their children some basic principles? What if the teachers started taking on the responsibility of reinforcing what the parents are attempting to teach their children? Churches, try as they might, just can’t seem to get it over to the parents as to what their role in this is. What if law enforcement backed up the parents when they were trying sincerely to help their children develop principles to live happily by?
Below are some principles that must be taught and adhered to. Parents can be a role model in this. The family unit is the base unit in our society. I challenge each and every one of you to dust off the old bible or go down and buy a new one. It has been a best seller for thousands of years and will be so until after time runs out. All the principles you need are in that book. It is guaranteed to help you build a happy family. It works best when the first baby comes along and is used consistently for the rest of your life.
Finally, do not let those who disagree with you make you feel bad. There are those who will make fun of your principles especially if they are true. Stand up for what is right regardless of the criticism you may get. Not standing up for what we know is right is how we got where we are. Practice what you know in your heart is right. Perhaps in 3-4 generations we can be on the road to real recovery in this society of ours, which is the greatest society the world has ever known.
Stand tall, stand brave, stand alone if necessary. Even though we are scattered across the globe, Christ is with us and holding our hand all the way. Knowing that there is a higher power that can keep us on the right road to make a comfortable and happy family. As a family this is a comfort that we must take advantage of. Prayer, meditation and a strong communication with God is the answer. Practice the following in your family: Truth, honesty, integrity, virtue, love of mother and father, love thy neighbor as thyself, Chastity, Valor, Mathematics, and music.
